In any practice of mindfulness, the process we engage in is ultimately the practice of cultivating the habit of remembrance. What are we remembering when we do asana, pranayama or sit in meditation? We are remembering that we aren't separate from the fabric of the Universe. That we are, in fact, a very colorful thread that is woven into the richness and elegance of this pattern.
When we allow ourselves to slow down, we can actually feel the layers of tension dissolving, the inner vibrancy radiating and the strength of our own resolve. To soften means we allow ourselves to become a little bit more receptive to an inherent compassion and love. To surrender means we take an attitude of radical self-acceptance that gives us the courage to step fully into life and to foster the feeling of wholeness and connection.
